Beep Lends a Helping Hand to the Homeless Community in Partnership with Street Lamp Ministries, Barbados
“With the current focus on home isolation and curfews to contain the surge of COVID-19 cases in Barbados, we must consider those among us who do not have a safe place to call home,” expressed Shari Green, Sales and Marketing Manager, McBride (Caribbean) Limited. It is with this in mind that McBride has partnered with All for God Street Lamp Ministries (registered charity #831) to donate Beep Liquid Hand Sanitizer products. These products will be shared with members of the homeless community and used at weekly feedings hosted by Street Lamp Ministries on Thursday nights in National Heroes Square in the city of Bridgetown.
Jerome Gittens, representative of Street Lamp Ministries, shared that the charity started from a simple act of kindness shown by two young ladies sharing their Christmas lunch. Ever since, they have been quietly servicing this underprivileged segment for over 19 years. The charity comprises devoted members from various Christian denominations including the Catholic, Pentecostal and Seventh Day Adventist churches as well as non-denominational, who have consistently contributed time and food items toward the effort to service over 130 homeless persons who have come to look forward to the weekly feedings. Bernadette Serieux, a long-standing member of the charity expressed deep gratitude to McBride and Beep. This sentiment was echoed by Pastor Dayle Haynes, Director of Community Services and Personal Ministries for the Eastern Caribbean Conference of Seventh Day Adventists and the Reverend Dr. Adrian Smith, Senior Pastor of Calvary Moravian Church, all of whom encouraged other private sector entities and the general public to support the work of Street Lamp Ministries.
In addition to Beep products, McBride is contributing food vouchers to Street Lamp Ministries and t-shirts to clothe members of the homeless community. Street Lamp Ministries is open to receiving monetary contributions, donations of food items, toiletries and articles of clothing.
